Birthing, An Act of Courage
is a beautiful new book written by Virginia. It will soon be available
at Borders or by calling Virgnia at 515-277-3164 or emailing her at Vtraxlerdm@aol.com.
"Birthing, An Act of Courage
is about the experience of birth through the eyes of a doula... The
author not only recounts her experiences with many women, but also
discusses why having a doula, or making other informed choices about
birth matters. She describes birth as a sacred transformative
experience that women "give away" if they just allow themselves to be
managed by the medical system. Birth is shown to be an act of great
courage, and how women and their partners experience it, to be an
integral part of how they learn to create family. The author includes
beautifl black and white photographs of many births, which create a
powerful visual experience as well."
